Kent Summer Sabbatical Program

At Roland Park Country School, we believe in the rest, rejuvenation and wellness of our teachers. We are thankful for the Kent Summer Sabbatical Program, which was created and endowed in 1999 by a generous gift from the Kent Family Foundation, Mr. and Mrs. E. Robert Kent, Jr., P’89, GP’20 and Josephine Kent Lemken, 1989, P’20.

Through this program, faculty members have the unique opportunity to travel the world and immerse themselves in enriching experiences. More than 200 faculty sabbaticals have been taken over the past 20 years, which also supports our teachers’ professional and personal growth and creates memories that last a lifetime. See below for details about exactly how our teachers and staff spent their sabbaticals in the summer of 2022.

2022 Kent Summer Sabbaticals

Since 1901, Roland Park Country School has been graduating driven and spirited women who take the world by storm. Many of our alumnae can pinpoint a moment, a class, or a teacher who inspired them to be the women they are today. Although these three women profiled here have had different career paths and a diverse range of experiences, you can clearly see how they credit their remarkable teachers at RPCS for pushing them – teaching them lessons that they now pay forward to others.

About the Kent Summer Sabbatical Program
The Kent Summer Sabbatical Program was endowed in 1999 by a generous gift from the Kent Family Foundation, Mr. and Mrs. E. Robert Kent, Jr. and Josephine Kent Lemken, 1989 to the School’s Centennial Campaign. This endowment underwrites in perpetuity a critical component of the overall faculty development plan at RPCS that supports curriculum development, skill and knowledge development, professional renewal, and validation of education as a career. The Summer Sabbatical Program was initiated by the Board of Trustees and the Head of School in 1996 to provide a focused, enriching experience for those engaged in long-term careers at RPCS.
