In this camp students will learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop dance through skill building, choreography, and dance games. Students will learn different styles of Hip Hop such as Breaking, Stepping, Waving, and Popping and Locking. As they learn the basics of each style, they will get to practice through learning choreography set to music they know and love. Students will even get the opportunity to create choreography of their own. This camp is open to all levels and no prior dance experience is necessary.

Say goodbye to training wheels! Participants will learn to ride safely and confidently over the course of the camp week; first by mastering balancing and gliding, then will easily transition to riding independently. We’ll master starting/stopping, speed control, turning, steering, riding in groups and around obstacles and hazards and learn basic traffic safety and bicycle maintenance. Even the most reluctant riders will be beaming by week’s end, encouraged by our expert instructors and caring staff, specialized equipment and lots of practice through games and fun.

Become a scientist by working with live zebrafish to learn about human and fish anatomy! Campers will mate live zebrafish, and care for their see-through embryos over the course of one week to the larval stage. They will also chart their development by making drawings and observations of their fish and babies, look at them under high-powered microscopes, and learn about basic anatomy, habitats, life cycles, and the similarities and differences between humans and fish.

* Please note that this camp runs from 10-12. Campers may be dropped off at 9 and enjoy playground and game time with counselors from 9-10.

This camp is for scrapbook beginners who love making memories! Campers will bring their own photographs, newspaper clippings, tickets, etc. and create a scrapbook throughout the week. We'll practice cutting, gluing, and other fine motor skills to craft a scrapbook unique to each child. We will use everything from paper bags and scraps to beautiful cardstock and stickers to show that truly anything can be used to create a keepsake.

The HH Adventure Seekers will spend the week looking for adventures in nature and learning about animals. We will enjoy a trip to Weber’s to pick our own berries, go on a quest to find our favorite animals at the Maryland Zoo, go on a garden tour around Clark’s Elioak Farm & visit their petting farm and view the botanic gardens at Rawlings Conservatory. To end the week, we will have a visit from Ferrets & Friends to get an up-close look at different animals.

REDS Running Camp will cover all the basics of running: cross country, road running, track and field, Olympic running, and trail running. Work with live zebrafish to learn about Mendelian Genetics! Campers will perform different genetic crosses (matings) by adding heterozygous carriers of a pigment mutation. Students must determine the genotype of their original adult fish by observing the phenotypes of the offspring. School of Magic Arts, one of the world’s only 365-day-a-year stage magic schools, presents Magic Camp Summer 2024! In this five day camp, students will learn the art of performing illusions based on the eight types of stage magic: production, vanish, transportation, transformation, levitation, animation, tear and restore, and solid-through-solid. They will use cards, coins, mental magic, and more! SOMA’s camp program includes stage magic instruction as well as confidence-building activities, theater games, prop building, writing, and crafts. Who is ready for some sports? The HH Adventure Seekers will spend the week learning about and partaking in sports. We will start the week with a tour of M&T Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. This new camp offering is designed for previous Learn to Ride camp attendees and other young riders who are riding independently but could use additional instruction and practice to improve confidence, skills, and safety awareness. Campers will spend the early part of the week learning and practicing important skills including speed control, stopping, shifting gears, cornering and turning, ascending and descending hills, and riding in groups. As the week progresses, we’ll begin to venture on to trails on campus and possibly nearby low-traffic areas off campus to practice riding as a group. We will incorporate fun games and competitions on bikes as well!

Bike rentals are not included in the camp as we encourage riders to bring and use their own bikes- we strongly recommend geared bikes with handbrakes.

Become a scientist by working with live zebrafish to learn about human and fish development! Campers will mate zebrafish, and care for their see-through embryos over the course of one week to the larval stage. They will also make drawings and observations of their fish and babies, look at them under high-powered microscopes, and compare humans and zebrafish. We will also learn about how the fish’s natural tropical environment is similar to and different from where the campers live, what human and zebrafish embryos both need to survive and where they get it, how gills are different than lungs, and the function of our respective hearts.

*This camp runs from 10-12. Campers may be dropped off at 9 and enjoy playground and game time with counselors from 9-10.

REDS Running Camp will cover all the basics of running: cross country, road running, track and field, Olympic running, and trail running. This camp is perfect for both the seasoned runner looking to improve or for the "first exposure", beginning runner looking to learn the basics. Our daily camp schedule will include core and strength training, stretching, form instruction, workouts, running games, and pro tips. All the action will culminate in a race and award ceremony on Friday. The emphasis will be on having fun while learning fitness. Campers will be split into groups based on age and ability.
