School's Out Auxiliary Programs

The program operates from 3:10 p.m.  - 6:00 p.m. every day school is in session, as well as conference days and early dismissal days.

Each afternoon includes:

• A provided snack upon arrival
• Homework time
• A variety of indoor play options
• Playground time

Parents/Guardians are expected to pick up students by 6:00 p.m. Pick-up occurs inside the Lower School entrance. Parents/Guardians will wait for their child to come to them after the parent notifies the front desk of their arrival. Parents/Guardians must sign out student in the Lower School Multi-Purpose Room upon departure. Students are not permitted to sign themselves out.

Parents arriving after 6:00 p.m. will be charged a LATE FEE OF $1 per minute starting at 6:01 p.m. and continuing until pick-up that day.

• All students must be pre-registered and have completed required paperwork. 

Name of class: Animal Themed Pottery and Clay

This 8-week art program  is all about animals and animal themed pottery and sculpture. Each week we will focus on a different animal group and how their physical traits can inspire creativity. Students will make functional ceramic pieces inspired by the amazing animal kingdom!

This after school program offers children in grades 3rd-5th the opportunity to perform in their own school production of Shrek Kids! Students experience all facets of a production from auditions and rehearsals to a final performance for their teachers, friends, and family to enjoy. All students are given a part and remember there is no part too small!

The performance of Shrek Kids will take place on Friday, March 27th at 6 PM in the Roland Park Country School Sinex Theater. 

Call time on March 27th is at 3:30 PM. 

The cost of the program includes 2 tickets to the performance. Additional tickets are able to be purchased for $10/each. 

Name of Program: Decorate & Create with Charm City Cakes
Grade range: K-5

Charm City Cakes invites young creatives to explore the sweet world of dessert decorating. Students will learn hands-on techniques like piping, fondant sculpting, and edible painting, while building artistic skills through fun, food-inspired art projects. Each session offers a new opportunity to decorate cupcakes, cookies, or mini cakes using professional tools and guidance from our decorating team. Perfect for kids who love to create—and eat—their masterpieces!
 

Name of class: Felting, Fibers and Fabric Arts

This 8-week art program focuses on working with fibers, primarily wool. Students will learn how to use wool in needle felting and wet felting, along with other materials. Projects will include creating bookmarks, small animals, pillows, bags, and other items that students can personalize and embellish using needle felting and a variety of materials.

This is two stand-alone classes. Children are invited to participate in either or both:

• Class 1: Get ready for the holidays! Learn proper greetings, conversation and other essentials of good manners. Topics include the history of why and how we eat, how to identify and use utensils and glassware when eating, how to handle oneself at the table, napkin usage, and much, much more. The interactive format makes learning fun, and the information learned will last a lifetime.
• Class 2: Social Skills Research confirms the importance of acquiring and practicing social skills for success in later life. Participants will play and have fun while learning behaviors for social interactions. Specific topics include: handshaking, speaking clearly, eye contact, introducing people, common courtesies, good listening, including others, respecting differences, sharing, picking-up, the importance of saying please, thank you, you’re welcome and excuse me. Plus the participants will learn how to be a respectful host and a respectful guest, behaviors in public, and gift giving and receiving. The children will create a manners book to share with you at home!

Come join us for a lively, fun-filled introduction to the beautiful art form of Irish dance! Certified teachers with 35 years of teaching experience will merge Irish dance with Irish music as students learn a step they can actually perform by the end of their first lesson! They will gain confidence, poise, balance, and memorization and concentration skills during a fun, interactive, physical class. Join us and be ready to jig with the best!

Learn how to make yummy hot cocoa, and earn money selling it! A hot cocoa stand is a great way to introduce our youngest entrepreneurs to the world of business and is fun! 

From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, students have fun while developing business savvy! As a showcase event, students launch their stand as a fundraiser for a charity they select!
 

Name of Program: Private Music Lessons
Instructor: Charm City Music School
Cost: $58/half-hour

Are you ready to RALLY the REDS! We are excited to bring cheerleading to RPCS. We will learn basic cheer fundamentals such as proper hand motions, cheers, chants, and entry level stunts that will cater to all kids no matter their cheer experience. Are you ready to Rally the Reds? 
Rally the Reds will attend select RPCS athletic events! Dates TBD!

Does your 11-14 year old feel ready to stay home alone, watch their brothers and sisters while their parents are gone, or babysit for younger children? Then maybe it’s time for Safe Sitter®. Safe Sitter® is for young teens in grades 6-8 who are ready to learn the skills they need to care for themselves and younger children. In addition, Safe Sitter® teaches young teens life and business skills, so that they know how to be prepared, be responsible, and be considerate whether they are babysitting or doing odd jobs for family, friends, or neighbors.

Shihan Karen Kells will teach practical self defense methods, how to avoid confrontation and fundamental Seido karate techniques and skills. In addition, she will work with the students on some of the traits we are known for instilling in students (i.e, focus, self control, self discipline, etc.).

Silver Knights Chess programs are made for everyone! We've taught more than 100,000 kids of all skill levels, from beginners learning the rules up to state and national champions. Students are broken up in groups by skill level for lessons that range from the basic rules to master games, openings, endgames, and tactics. Students will build upon their skills by playing practice games against other students. At the end of the program, each student will receive their very own chess set!
