Mod Design with Youth Digital

  • Ages 8-14, 9:00-4:00, $425

    Led by Youth Digital

    Come learn real Java™ programming as you design and code your own Minecraft mod from start to finish. Campers can use all their craziest ideas to create their own blocks, items, mobs, and more to add whatever they can think of into Minecraft! A sword made out of Pizza? How about a mob of marshmallow minions? Make it all happen in Mod Design Camp.
    Campers will walk away with an awesome Minecraft mod that can download and shared with friends! Campers will also be able to access the online version of the course after camp, including video tutorials, interactive quizzes, and new challenges so they can keep using their new skills!

Minecraft Modders

  • Ages 8-14, 9:00-12:00, $225

    Led by Black Rocket

    Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods! Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Camper projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. 
    To access their project at home campers must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years 

3D Printing and Creative Engineering

  • Ages 9-11, 9:00-12:00, $225

    Led by RPCS Lower School Math Teacher, Becky Stevenson

    Come learn about the exciting new world of 3D printers! As an introduction to the basics of 3D printing and design campers will explore a variety of 3D printer capabilities with a special focus on the MakerBot® Replicator. 
    You will learn the basics of 3D design and will use software to create a 3D model that you will take home. In addition, students will engage in a variety of fun engineering design challenges that promote team building, learning and fun!
     
    NOTE: Students must have access to an email account.

LEGO Films and Stop Action!

    Led by Black Rocket

    Make your LEGOs come to life! Bring in your favorite action figures or LEGOs and create a short film with your friends. Whether you want to recreate a scene from Star Wars or design a world of your own, this camp brings your dreams to the screen. 
    Campers will need to bring in LEGOs or action figures from home, but all other equipment provided. Camper-created films will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years 

Make Your First Video Game!

    Led by Black Rocket

    If you love playing video games, this is the camp for you! Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind camp that shows you the keys to designing your first 2D platformer game. Conceptualization, play experience, level design, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we’ll explore. 
    No prior experience necessary, just a desire to have fun. Camper created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Games are only compatible on PC computers, Mac versions can be created after the program for $15.00 conversion fee. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years  

Minecraft Designers

    Led by Black Rocket

    If you love the game Minecraft, and always wanted to design your own world, this camp is for you! Learn how to create a custom map, the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects, how to build with Redstone and Command blocks, and create custom textures for you to import at home or share with friends. 
    To access their project at home campers, must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Parent email address is required to use 3D modeling software. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years

App Design with Youth Digital

    Led by Youth Digital 

    Come learn foundational mobile app development skills as you design and program your own mobile game. Campers will complete a mobile game from start to finish, including choosing characters, level design, and programming the app’s functionality! 
    Campers learn the same App Design concepts the pros use, including if-then statements, variables, debugging and troubleshooting to make their own mobile app!
     
    At the end of camp, you will be able to download and play your finished app on an Android or iOS device! Campers will also be able to access the online version of the course after camp, including video tutorials, interactive quizzes, and new challenges so they can keep using their new skills!

LEGO Video Games

    Combine your two favorite activities: LEGOs and Video Games! Students will create their own LEGO characters and adventures in an interactive 2D Video Game. Everyone is welcome in this one of a kind class. 
    At the end of the program, every camper will have a finished LEGO Video Game that can be shared with friends and family through a password protected Black Rocket website. Games are only compatible on PC computers; Mac versions can be created after the program for a $15.00 conversion fee. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years     

Make Your First 3D Video Game!

    Led by Black Rocket

    Try this new version of a Black Rocket classic! This camp allows you to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. Campers will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of gameplay, and storytelling. 
    Campers created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years   

Minecraft Animators

    Led by Black Rocket

    Bring your favorite Minecraft characters to life in an animated short film! Learn how studios like Pixar and Disney make movies like Inside Out and Frozen by using techniques like keyframing, tweening, texturing, and animating rigged 3D models! 
    Camper projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. You do not need to own a Minecraft account to use the software in this class. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. Mac users can play their project at home, but will not be able to edit the project without a PC.    

Code Breakers

    Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way to becoming the next tech star! 
    Whether you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, this course has the essentials you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years
