This Safe Sitter® Basic program is a 6 ½-hour essential curriculum that is hands-on, fun and exciting! It includes Babysitting as a Business, Success on the Job, Child Care Essentials, Safety for the Sitter, Injury Management, Preventing Problem Behavior, Care of Choking Infant and Care of Choking Child.
It introduces Preventing Injuries and Behavior Management and an overview of CPR and Basic First Aid skills. You will need to pass a written test and fully participate in the classroom activities (conversations and role play) in order to receive a certificate. Each student will receive a SafeSitter® handbook that will provide support for years to come!
NOTE: For Programs One and Three attendance is required on both days for certification. Please bring bottled water and healthy snack with you each day and a lunch for the full day programs. *Please note this program does not provide a CPR certification.
The earlier you start learning to shake hands, to look someone in the eyes and to introduce yourself and others, the more likely it is that these skills become second nature. Campers are amazed how much fun learning these skills can be when you get to color, use puppets and dress ups, and lots of fun props to practice these real-life skills.
Learning how to drive is one of the most exciting milestones of a teenager’s life – but safe driving must be taught. Patrick Francis, Paul Graves, and the other highly qualified instructors from Roland Park Driving School will teach automotive skills in the classroom and behind the wheel. There will be 30 hours of class time at RPCS and six hours on the road.
Behind-the-wheel time will be scheduled at the conclusion of the classroom part of the program. A learner’s permit is required for the driving portion of the program (but not the classroom). You must be 15 years old to take driver’s education class and 15 years 9 months for a learner’s permit and behind the wheel instruction. Arrangements may be made with students living in the local area to be picked up from their home or school for the behind-the-wheel portion of the program. Roland Park Driving School, and their instructors, are licensed and certified by the Motor Vehicle Administration to teach the approved MVA driver’s education curriculum.
