Sports Performance

Placeholder

At RPCS, the health and well-being of our student-athletes is a priority. Our Sports Performance staff works together to prepare athletes for the physical expectations of competition and helps athletes return to full participation in the event of injury or illness.

Strength and Conditioning

Roland Park Country School employs a part-time strength coach to work with all athletes to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, speed and agility. Our strength and conditioning program is dynamic, supporting both in season and out of season training.

The strength and conditioning program at RPCS is designed to provide our student athletes with unique opportunities to train for the purpose of increasing athletic performance. All student-athletes participate in the strength and conditioning program while in-season, and our Strength Coach offers programs and workouts for student athletes to continue their training in the off-season.

RPCS Athletics is dedicated to supporting our students in their growth in sports.  The core focus of the strength and conditioning program is centered around the following six key objectives:

Respect
Work Hard
Compete
Lead
Have Fun
Win

The Dwyer Fitness Center is a state-of-the-art facility available to our upper school students for PE classes, athletics, and personal use. The space is large enough to accommodate team workouts, and we continue to expand the resources in the Dwyer Fitness Center to promote growth of the strength and conditioning program.

Athletic Training

Roland Park Country School employs a full-time certified Athletic Trainer, who is responsible for the overall health and wellness of student-athletes in both middle school and upper school. The athletic trainer is available to see student-athletes during the school day by appointment and before and after practices and competitions in the afternoon.

Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who provide services in the recognition, prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Trainers practice under the direction of a physician and must meet the qualifications set by a state licensure and the Board of Certification, Inc.

The athletic trainer works closely with the school nurse, physicians, and other medical professionals to provide the best possible care for our student athletes. Any student athlete who suffers an injury or condition requiring treatment or evaluation by a physician or other health care professional should request a note detailing diagnosis and any instructions or limitations. The school nurse is responsible for receiving such written documentation, which is required for participation in athletics and PE.
