RPCS Joins Village of Cross Keys to Create Snow Globes for Good
For the second year in a row, Roland Park Country School is participating in a community fundraiser and contest held by The Village of Cross Keys with other local independent schools. This year, the theme “Snow Globes for Good” came to life as each school was charged with decorating oversized snow globes to be voted on by the greater Baltimore community. The top three schools win money towards a local charity of their choosing.

The RPCS snow globe’s theme was inspired by Lower School art teacher Holly McAslan’s trip to Paris this past summer. The theme is based on Claude Monet’s water lily paintings. Students from every division helped create the idyllic landscape, complete with their own rendering of the famous bridge over the lily pond. The bridge also symbolizes the connection between all of our students, from kindergarten to 12th grade. The four sides of the base are all scenes from photographs taken from Ms. McAslan’s trip to Giverny. Third through 12th graders contributed to the paintings, while our kindergarteners painted the gold frames!

The design also includes drawings of cats and dogs, placed strategically around the base of the snow globe. Some were painted with paint pens while others were sculpted out of model magic. This is to honor our school’s chosen non-profit, the Maryland SPCA.

The contest wraps up on December 31 - please vote here to keep RPCS in the top spot!
