Theatre 6

Theatre 6

6th grade theatre is a semester-long arts requirement that introduces students to the foundations of theatre through play, movement, and storytelling. Students begin each class with dynamic warm-ups designed to build awareness, coordination, and expressive range. These activities include mime techniques such as counter-torsion, baton, and nine attitudes, alongside improv activities that encourage spontaneity and creativity. Students also learn essential theatre vocabulary and concepts, including types of stage spaces, parts of a script, and the Seven Levels of Tension. As the semester progresses, students apply these skills to small-group scene work, plot analysis lessons, and pantomime, culminating in in-class collaborative performances that highlight both individual expression and ensemble storytelling.
