Spanish III (Honors)

This course is designed for students who are looking to continue with the challenge of an honors level language course with greater rigor in terms of the pace of the class and expectations for student work. The class is taught almost exclusively in Spanish, and students are expected to make the effort to interact in Spanish in the classroom. Students continue to reinforce their Spanish language skills, including reading, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking. The focus of the grammar is preterit tense, examining the uses of the imperfect, and focusing on the relationship between these two aspects of the past. Students learn comparatives and superlatives, direct and
indirect pronouns, reflexive/reciprocal verbs, the present subjunctive mood, and commands. This course engages students in thematic units such as health, technology, home, and nature. They experience a more immersive learning environment and are encouraged to use the target language exclusively as they participate in a variety of cultural activities and projects.
