Physical Education 7

Our Middle School physical education program is designed to help students build healthy habits, grow in confidence, and discover the joy of movement. Through a balance of sports, fitness activities, and health lessons, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to live active, health-promoting lives through a comprehensive curriculum. Instruction combines movement based experiences with health focused lessons to promote lifelong wellness.

Students will:

  • Apply anatomy and physiology concepts to physical activity, explaining how body systems work together and respond to movement.
  • Develop movement skills and strategies by participating in modified versions of team sports, individual activities, rhythmic movement, and recreational games.
  • Practice social and safety skills that support collaboration, sportsmanship, and group success across various physical and health-related settings.
  • Build health literacy by identifying and applying key concepts in nutrition, fitness, and personal well-being.
  • Engage in self-assessment and goal-setting to design and follow a personal fitness plan for improvement or maintenance of individual health.

In addition, students are introduced to some of the unique seasonal sports offered through the RPCS Upper School athletic program, including but not limited to badminton, golf, and other team and individual options. These experiences not only broaden students’ exposure to diverse forms of physical activity but also equip them with the skills and confidence to make informed choices about athletic participation in the Upper School.
