Performing Arts Workshop (PAW) 7

Performing Arts Workshop (PAW) 7

This year-long arts requirement brings together singing, acting, and dancing into one exciting and collaborative experience. Students will dive into songs and scenes from a variety of musicals while practicing essential stage skills such as character development, vocal projection, choreography, and ensemble performance. In music, students strengthen their score analysis skills—learning to track measures, voicing, interludes, and repeat signs—and explore how the shape of the vocal folds, tongue, lips, and throat affect sound. They also make connections between drills, ear-training, and real performance challenges. In dance, the focus is on jazz and precision, helping students develop accuracy, coordination, and stage presence. Each semester culminates in a performance at the Middle School Winter and Spring Concert, giving students the chance to apply their skills in a polished ensemble setting
