Music 6
Music 6
Sixth Grade Music is a semester-long arts requirement. In 6th grade, students continue their four-year music progression with a focus on audiation and kinesthetic awareness, explored through the ensemble handbells. Students develop coordination and teamwork while learning about harmony, both through playing handbell parts and by singing harmonic bass lines in folk and game songs. They strengthen their ears by reading and singing intervals that make up major and minor scales and expand their rhythmic vocabulary by working with syncopation. This year emphasizes precision, listening, and collaboration while deepening musical understanding and ensemble skills.
