K-4th Grades Library

The Killebrew Library serves students from preschool through fourth grade as the heart of the Lower School—a hub of curiosity, discovery, and a love of reading. Grounded in Rudine Sims Bishop’s Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Glass Doors framework, the program ensures that every student both sees themselves reflected in stories and gains new perspectives through diverse voices. Through engaging lessons, scavenger hunts, and collaborative projects, students learn to navigate resources, explore their reading interests, and grow as independent readers and researchers. Author visits, book clubs, and our K–12 Reading Revolution initiative reinforce the joy and lifelong value of reading for learning, empathy, and well-being.
