Kindergarten Literacy

In kindergarten, students begin their journey as readers, writers, listeners, and speakers through a rich, engaging literacy program. They develop strong listening and speaking skills while learning letter recognition and letter–sound correspondence. Using the Phono-Graphix method, students build phonological and phonemic awareness and begin acquiring sight words to support early reading fluency. Reading instruction takes place through leveled texts and small-group lessons, which allow for individualized support and growth. Students also explore the writing process through research, narrative, and creative writing, learning to construct basic sentences with appropriate spacing, punctuation, and phonetic spelling.
