8th Grade Singers

Eighth Grade Singers is a semester-long vocal ensemble designed to build advanced singing, musicianship, and performance skills. Students explore how the movement and shaping of the vocal folds, tongue, lips, and vocal tract affect sound production and apply this knowledge to both individual and ensemble singing. Through focused drills, ear-training, and score study, students strengthen their music literacy and practice transferring these skills to unfamiliar repertoire. Ensemble singing emphasizes layering harmonies, refining group blend, and developing presence on stage, with attention to both self-awareness and group cohesion. The repertoire spans Broadway, popular music, and traditional works, preparing students for high-level ensemble participation in the Upper School. This group will perform several pieces for the Middle School Winter Concert.
