5th Grade Program Overview

5th Grade Program Overview

During this pivotal time in girls’ lives, RPCS aspires to meet students’ social-emotional needs by framing each middle school year within a theme that aligns with our core values. The fifth-grade theme EMERGING encapsulates our youngest community members’ transition from Lower into Middle School as well as their early development within this new division.

Our School provides a nurturing learning environment equipped with experienced faculty, a dean of students, and other necessary supports that empower fifth graders to rise to higher levels of responsibility, independence, and achievement while seeing first-hand that mistakes provide opportunities for growth. Herein students build strong habits and foundational skills that prepare them to engage successfully with rigorous academics, more complex social interactions, and leadership opportunities.

Our program encourages students to follow their curiosities, develop their passions, and widen their perspectives as they begin to take their seats at a larger table where each young presence emerges into a more compelling, confident voice.

Fifth Grade signature events and experiences include an overnight outdoor education experience at Genesee Valley, a spring Reading Fair, and an end-of-year celebration of poetry where students formally present an original work to families and our Middle School Community.
