9TH ANNUAL 5K AND FAMILY FUN WALK - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2019
Each year, Roland Park Country School families, alumnae, faculty and members of the surrounding community lace up their sneakers for a morning of activity and fun! Now in its 9th year, the Red Hot Run has something for the entire family: a 5K race and 1 mile family fun walk through the school campus and historic Roland Park neighborhood, and a festive post-race party with refreshments and entertainment. All proceeds go to The Fund for Roland Park Country School. Mark your calendar for this year’s race, which will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019.

Register as a SLEEPY PEPPER by October 23, pay the above fees and get a shirt.
All runners registered by October 23 will receive a premium cotton blend long sleeve shirt. Children ages 4 to 12 will receive a cotton shirt with the option to upgrade. Shirts NOT guaranteed after this date.
Cotton blend shirts available a-la-carte including YOUTH sizes. ($15)
How can you get involved? There are many different opportunities and positions available. Please consider serving as a volunteer and sign up by visiting the Charm City Run race webpage.
REGISTRATION and PACKET PICK-UP (on campus)
The run starts at 8:30 a.m. and race day registration will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Volunteers will help participants register, pick up their packets and get to the starting line.
WATER STOP (on course)
There will be a water-stop on the course. Volunteers will help prepare cups of water ahead of time for the runners and help distribute the water as the runners/walkers pass by the stop. Charm City Run will escort volunteers out to the stop on the course and pick up after runners have returned.
COURSE MARSHALS (on course)
Volunteers will be assigned to a designated area along the course in order to monitor and coordinate runners/walkers. Great opportunity to cheer for friends, family members and students who are participating. Charm City Run will escort volunteers out on the course and pick up after runners have returned.
FINISH (on campus)
Volunteers will be assigned to the finish line area to help direct runners/walkers to the appropriate area, collect tags and to maintain the water supply for finishers. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
POST-RACE CELEBRATION (on campus)
Volunteers will help with set-up, distribute snacks to participants and oversee other post-race stations as needed.
The RPCS Red Hot Run goes global! This year, we have partnered with Jhpiego's Miles for Mothers (a Johns Hopkins University affiliate) to raise funds to provide lifesaving medical equipment and supplies to displaced mothers and children in South Sudan. The needs in South Sudan are overwhelming and ensuring mothers and children are receiving adequate care is a daily challenge.
It is essential that our students understand their capacity to be agents of change in the world, and the RPCS Leadership and Entrepreneurship Institute believes it is important that students engage in important issues, both local and international. Our partnership with Jhpiego and the Miles for Mothers program allows students to learn about issues facing women and girls halfway around the world, and encourages them to consider the importance of design thinking and social entrepreneurship, two ideas that are central to Jhpiego’s mission.
Here's how you can get involved! Register for the Red Hot Run (registration fee goes to RPCS) and then create your own fundraising page on the Miles for Mothers site or donate in support of someone else as you raise funds for this important effort! Gifts of all sizes make an impact. 100% of your donation goes directly to this project and will help to purchase the following in addition to other improvements.
- Hepatitis B test kit ($8.50)
- Fetoscope ($15.00)
- Blood pressure monitor ($37.00)
- Backpack for a community health worker to carry lifesaving HIV medicines ($40.00)
- Baby scale ($64.00)
- Bicycle for a health care worker to reach more women and children ($150.00)
- Waiting room bench so that women are not standing waiting for hours ($200.00)
- Exam bed for pregnant women ($300.00)

Create a Team
Gather family, neighbors, friends, co-workers, classmates and others to create a team! Choose a team name – be creative! Teams with 20 or more participants will have the team name included on the back of the run shirts. Please note there will NOT be separate team shirts. The largest overall team will be recognized at the Post-Race Celebration and the team name will be engraved on the Red Hot Run trophy permanently on display at RPCS. The largest RPCS team will have a team picture featured in the spring Laurel Leaf. Team members must be registered by October 23 to qualify for the shirts. NO ADDITIONS OR CHANGES AFTER THIS DATE TO QUALIFY FOR THE TEAM COMPETITION.
