Margaret Brooks, 2024
Internship: Jenkins Baer Associates
Mentor: Katherine Behrens Crosby, 1990, P’27
Margaret had the opportunity to work with Katherine Crosby at Jenkins Baer Associates, an interior design firm where designers work with clients to create their dream spaces. Margaret attended team meetings, toured client homes and spaces and gained valuable insight about various design elements. One of the highlights of her internship was creating color schemes with fabric and paint samples for individual client rooms.

Jane Fox, 2024
Internship: Children in Need of Assistance (CINA)
Mentor: Kelly Donovan-Mazzulli, 1994, P’23, P’24
Jane was extremely lucky to intern for Baltimore County lawyer Ms. Donovan-Mazzulli, who represents Children in Need of Assistance (CINA). Ms. Donovan-Mazzulli works to ensure the safety of children who have been removed from their living situations and sheltered by the Department of Social Services. Throughout her time as an intern, Jane listened in on court review hearings and trials, read court reports and learned what a CINA attorney does to help children.

Taylor Goldstein, 2024
Internship: Brown Advisory
Mentor: Catherine Passano McDonnell, 1994, P’22, P’24, P’27
Taylor interned at Brown Advisory both on the private client and institutional sides. She had the opportunity to observe and learn from different employees around the office, including strategic advisors, private client portfolio managers, equity traders, and client service team members. Additionally, Taylor shadowed the director of relationship management for the direct and consultant relations channel. She learned about the value of building relationships with clients and helping them to build an investment portfolio that will gain the most value in the stock market. This experience allowed Taylor to learn about different academic paths for a successful career in finance.

Violet Smith, 2024
Internship: Maryland Pediatric Group
Mentor: Dr. Amy Winkelstein, 1992, P’22
Violet shadowed pediatrician Dr. Winkelstein at the Maryland Pediatric Group. She accompanied Dr. Winkelstein during her appointments, including checkups and sick visits. Violet learned about children’s health and development at various ages from infancy to early adulthood and received a behind-the-scenes view to understand the daily work schedule of pediatricians in addition to their patient appointments.

Phoebe Taylor
Internship: zyBooks
Mentor: Dr. Nkenge Wheatland, 2004
Phoebe spent her summer internship working at zyBooks, a company that creates interactive online coding courseware in languages such as Java, C++, and Python. Her job was to convert practice problems in C++ that were of raw code into Parsons Problems, allowing users to drag-and-drop lines of code rather than manually code by themselves. Phoebe gained valuable insight into the mechanics of online textbooks and embedded animation, and she enhanced her knowledge of C++ while making the zyBooks platform more effective for its users.
