Spirit Week
Grace Daniels

To say that RPCS has spirit is a bit of an understatement. During my time as a student, I truly haven’t seen a community that takes pride and creativity to this level. All of this really showed during the Upper School’s spirit week this October.

To say that RPCS has spirit is a bit of an understatement. During my time as a student, I truly haven’t seen a community that takes pride and creativity to this level. All of this really showed during the Upper School’s spirit week this October. I want to walk you through some of my favorite memories from this exciting week.

The Spirit Committee made up of representatives from the 9th-12th grades picksa theme for each day of the week. They presented a funny video showing all the themes and examples during our Upper School meeting the week before. Everyone gives it there all to come up with spot-on outfits (but no pressure- it’s all for laughs!). I think this year’s themes were some of the best yet. Here at the details:

Monday: Pajama Day

This was the comfiest of them all. It was great to roll right out of bed and into my French class. We were all cozy in our sweats, blankets, and slippers. (I especially loved getting to slide down the hallways in my halloween snoopy slippers!)\

Tuesday: 2000s Disney Red Carpet

Wow! This was like walking right into an original Disney Channel show. Jeans under puffy dresses and glitter scarves were just the beginning to us twinning with our favorite actresses from when were in lower school.

Wednesday: “Why is this in my closet”

I never thought I would see my best friend in a sweatsuit that was the same blue print as a retro soda cup or another in a blow up dino suit. 100% a great opportunity for me to wear my neon yellow pants I regret buying last winter.

Thursday: Anything but Your Backpack

I am still laughing thinking about this day. No one was allowed to bring their backpack to school and had to use something else to carry their books around. My friend Lily even used a crockpot! I pushed around a kid’s toy shopping cart. Not the easiest thing to bring across the bridge to my Latin class at Gilman but a few people stopped and laughed, so it was worth it.

Friday: Fan Day

From favorite movie characters to sports teams, people dressed up as someone or something they loved. My favorite was my friend Caroline dressing up as our Photography teacher Ms. Bracken!

The week ends with our student-planned Upper School fall dance, Fall Ball. This year’s theme was 2000s. I went perfectly with Tuesday’s Spirit week theme. It was great to dress up and spend time with friends Saturday night. It is surely a favorite Upper School tradition.

Spirit Week and Fall Ball were such a fun way to brighten up our weeks. I loved planning out my outfits and seeing what everyone came up with. I can’t wait to see you and all your RPCS spirit soon!
