2021 Spirit Week - Seniors
Abby McDonnell

Once again, October was a great month on campus as the days slowly became colder and the trees more colorful. Despite this change in weather however, the RPCS pride and spirit present daily always seemed to be increasing.

Once again, October was a great month on campus as the days slowly became colder and the trees more colorful. Despite this change in weather however, the RPCS pride and spirit present daily always seemed to be increasing. As a result, the Upper School celebrated together during our annual spirit week, and we were finally able to participate in the all-school Halloween traditions that help bring all three divisions together as a whole.

To kick off holiday festivities, as mentioned above, the entire Upper School including teachers, dress up to the theme of the day for a week. Spirit committee, a student lead organization, organized this event and created the themes for each day. The themes are as follows: Pajama Day Monday, 2000s Disney Red Carpet Tuesday, “Why is this in my closet?” Wednesday, Anything but your backpack Thursday, and Fan Friday. Throughout the week, there were many laughs as everyone was able to dress by showing off their creative and humorous takes on these themes. Personally, I enjoyed “anything but your backpack Thursday” as it was amusing to see all the various items people decided to bring in (shoutout to whoever brought in a large recycling bin and wheeled it around school for the day!).

The second event I mentioned at the beginning is the annual Lower School Halloween parade where every grade, teachers, and parents fill the gym to watch all the little kids show off their costumes and perform a few Halloween songs and dances. As someone who has attended RPCS throughout Lower School, the Halloween parade is a time where you feel especially at home as all three divisions are together, and that feeling is present for anyone in attendance, big or small. It is one of the many times at RPCS that you know you are with your forever family and that you are in a safe, loving, and spirited environment.

That’s all for the October blog but make sure to come back at the end of November to see what fun and exciting things have been going on at RPCS! GO REDS!
