Holiday Fair photo booth

After coming back from Thanksgiving, Winter break is in sight. It’s the final stretch of school before a nice two weeks with family and friends. However, there are a few RPCS traditions that make this last week extremely memorable.

After coming back from Thanksgiving, Winter break is in sight. It’s the final stretch of school before a nice two weeks with family and friends. However, there are a few RPCS traditions that make this last week extremely memorable.

Just last Friday, parent and student volunteers put together the annual Holiday Fair. I have never been to a holiday celebration this exciting let alone right in your own school’s gym on a Friday afternoon. Parents and students of all ages come to buy from local vendors to get their holiday shopping done, make gingerbread cookies, try a variety of foods, and attempt to get the most tickets in the money machine. I volunteered with my friend Jessie at the photo booth. We had TOO much fun getting photos of our friends with holiday props. Check out the photo of our Upper School Head, Mrs. Kyle, attached to the blog that we got!

On the last advisory before winter break, we have a holiday party! This year we are doing a Yankee Swap with funny t-shirts. We are all going to leave full of holiday treats and will a new ridiculous t-shirt that I’m sure will be the first thing we reach for on dress-down days. We even decorated for our party with a strand of paper snowflakes we made yesterday. It is a great opportunity to have some laughs and catch up with friends before we leave.

Winter break in sight means the dreaded exam week. But in all actuality, Reading Day makes it all a lot better. Imagine rolling out of bed and right into school to have the most productive day of your life. Everyone is in their comfiest pajamas and starts reviewing for their exams. It is great to have a day set aside to meet with teacher, have group study time, and the best self-care activities. In addition to all the studying, there is a bouncy house, yoga, aromatherapy, therapy dogs, and snacks provided by Mrs. Blatti. We have one last upper school meeting that day to come together before we leave for the holidays.

These last two weeks full of productivity and fun are my favorite at RPCS. I love all of the holiday spirit and memories I get to make with my friends before break, but there is so much too look forward to when I get back!
