Schedule and Attend Student Assessment and Visit Days
For Applicants to Grades K-1
You and your child are invited to come to campus on two separate dates during the admissions season. The separate meetings/days allow us to keep the meeting times short and developmentally appropriate, and they also enable us to really get to know each of our applicants. One of the dates will be focused on allowing us to get to know your daughter individually via our 1x1 admissions assessment (see Schedule Admissions Testing). The second date will be a group academic readiness assessment where your daughter will be invited to join other applicants for group activities that will be guided by RPCS Lower School faculty and the Assessment Team.
Once you have completed your application, you can register for the individual assessment.
On the individual assessment day, applicants will be working with Dr. Shana Ward, our Lower School Testing Coordinator and Casey Briggs, Assistant Director of Lower School Admissions. The individual assessment allows us to see how our applicants think and reason and solve problems. Once you have submitted your daughter's application, Casey Briggs, Assistant Director of Lower School Admissions, will contact you to schedule your individual assessment visit. During your daughter’s individual assessment, parents/guardians will be offered a personalized tour of campus with a specific focus on the Lower School. In addition, parents/guardians will observe a portion of a Kindergarten or First Grade literacy or math class and engage in an individualized follow-up conversation with Mrs. Briggs that concludes the morning.
On the group academic readiness assessment day, your daughter will join other applicants her age. While applicants are in testing, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to join Interim Head of School, Joan Smith, Lower School Head, Stephanie Scanlon, current Lower School faculty and students and current parents for a roundtable discussion to learn more about student life and academics at RPCS. You will also have an interview with a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
You will register for the group assessment on the day of your individual assessment.
For Applicants to Grades 2-4
Applicants are invited to a student visiting day where they will attend classes with an RPCS student hostess and meet other students, teachers and Stephanie Scanlon, Lower School Head. Students will also participate in a scavenger hunt with their hostesses and the other guests as a fun way for them to explore other parts of RPCS. The parent/guardian portion allows you to have the opportunity to join Interim Head of School, Joan Smith, Lower School Head, Stephanie Scanlon, current Lower School faculty and students and current parents for a panel discussion to learn more about student life and academics at RPCS. Parents will also have an interview with a member of our Senior Leadership Team and will also be offered a tour of the school. This is a required part of our admissions process.
