The application deadline is December 15, 2023. Applications received after this date will be reviewed based on available space.
You and your child are invited to come to campus on two separate dates during the admissions season. The separate meetings/days allow us to keep the meeting times short and developmentally appropriate, and they also enable us to really get to know each of our applicants. One of the dates will be focused on allowing us to get to know your daughter individually via our 1x1 admissions assessment (see Schedule Admissions Testing). The second date will be a group assessment where your daughter will be invited to join other applicants for group activities that will be guided by RPCS Lower School faculty and the Assessment Team.
On the group academic readiness assessment day, your daughter will join other applicants her age. Before we begin testing, applicants and their parents/guardians will participate in a fun scavenger hunt around the Lower School, introducing applicant families to fun and important places throughout the Lower School. This activity will also help to orient applicants to campus before the assessments begin. While applicants are testing, you will have the opportunity to join our Lower School Head, Lisa Teeling, with a few other Lower School faculty for a roundtable discussion to learn more about student life and academics at RPCS. You can register for the group assessment once the application has been submitted.
On the individual assessment day, applicants will be working one on one with Dr. Shana Ward, our Lower School Testing Coordinator. The individual assessment allows us to see how our applicants think and reason and solve problems. Once you have submitted your daughter's application, Casey Briggs, Assistant Director of Lower School Admissions, will contact you to schedule your individual assessment visit. During you daughter’s individual assessment, you will be offered a personalized tour of campus and the Lower School at RPCS.
For Applicants to Grades 2-5
Applicants are invited to a student visiting day where they will attend classes with an RPCS student hostess and meet other students, teachers and the Lower School Division Head. This is a required part of our admissions process. You will be invited to register for a date after the application has been submitted and are available first come, first serve.
Our application process for kindergarten and first grade includes both an individual assessment with our Lower School Testing Coordinator, Shana Ward, Ph.D. and the group assessment. Once you have submitted an application for your daughter for either kindergarten or first grade, we will reach out to you with information on how you can register for both of these assessments. Both assessments are required admission steps for enrollment into Roland Park Country School. For any additional questions, please email Casey Briggs, Assistant Director for Lower School Admissions: firstname.lastname@example.org
All applicants to grades 2 through 5 are invited to attend our group testing dates at RPCS on Saturday, January 6, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You will be able to register for a test date once you have submitted your child’s application.
During the group assessment, RPCS Lower School faculty and admissions staff will administer standardized ability and achievement tests. Applicants will also complete a writing task. With your written permission, we will be happy to share your child’s assessment results with other schools. If your child cannot attend testing at RPCS on January 6, you have the option of registering for testing at another school. Please be sure to request that your child’s test results be sent to the RPCS Admissions Office. For any additional questions, please email Casey Briggs, Assistant Director for Lower School Admissions at email@example.com.
