For Applicants to Grades K-1
You and your child are invited to come to campus on two separate dates during the admissions season. The separate meetings/days allow us to keep the meeting times short and developmentally appropriate, and they also enable us to really get to know each of our applicants. One of the dates will be focused on allowing us to get to know your daughter individually via our 1x1 admissions assessment (see Schedule Admissions Testing). The second date will be a group assessment where your daughter will be invited to join other applicants for group activities that will be guided by RPCS Lower School faculty and the Assessment Team.
On the group academic readiness assessment day, your daughter will join other applicants her age. Before we begin testing, applicants and their parents/guardians will participate in a fun scavenger hunt around the Lower School, introducing applicant families to fun and important places throughout the Lower School. This activity will also help to orient applicants to campus before the assessments begin. While applicants are testing, you will have the opportunity to join our Lower School Head, Lisa Teeling, with a few other important Lower School faculty for a roundtable discussion to learn more about student life and academics at RPCS. You can register for the group assessment once the application has been submitted.
On the individual assessment day, applicants will be working one on one with Dr. Shana Ward, our Lower School Testing Coordinator. The individual assessment allows us to see how our applicants think and reason and solve problems. Once you have submitted your daughter's application, Ashley Henderson, Assistant Director of Lower School Admissions, will contact you to schedule your individual assessment visit. During you daughter’s individual assessment, you will be offered a personalized tour of campus and the Lower School at RPCS.
For Applicants to Grades 2-5
Applicants are invited to a student visiting day where they will attend classes with an RPCS student hostess and meet other students, teachers and the Lower School Division Head. This is a required part of our admissions process. You will be invited to register for a date after the application has been submitted and are available first come, first serve. The dates for these events are forthcoming.
