This summer, Kiki Gushue, 2021 explored the theme of feminism and female leadership in media. She learned about storytelling and creating podcasts from her mentor, the director of new local programming at WYPR, Aaron Henkin.

Kiki investigated the theme of women in media by interviewing two amazing women who work in the industry: Yael Melamede, a producer, director and independent production company cofounder and Rachel Heacox, a videographer and visual brand studio owner, on their experiences in these professions, including their successes and setbacks. Kiki then created a podcast series called “Behind the Camera: Stories of Women Working in the Media Industry” to share what she learned. “It was so inspiring to talk to these women and find their stories to tell,” Kiki said. Check out her podcast on Spotify
