GIVING 101: HOW TO MAKE A CHARITABLE BEQUEST
To make an unrestricted charitable bequest
by will, the donor may use one of the
following directions:
• I give ____________ dollars ($_______
) to Roland Park Country School, a Baltimore,
Maryland independent school, for its general
purposes.
• I give ____________ percent (
_____ %) of the rest, residue and remainder
of my estate to Roland Park Country School,
a Baltimore, Maryland independent school,
for its general purposes.
• I give (a specified asset) to
Roland Park Country School, a Baltimore,
Maryland independent school, for its general
purposes.
Alternatively, the donor may designate
the purpose of the bequest.
To make a charitable bequest by will
irrevocable, the donor may add the following
direction:
This bequest shall be payable, in full,
within one year after the date of
my death.
I acknowledge that, in my lifetime,
the School may make decisions or take
actions in reliance upon this pledged
bequest.
Accordingly, it is my intention that
this bequest shall be enforceable as
a claim against my estate, including
against any trust which is amendable
or revocable at any time prior to my
death and which holds assets that I
have transferred to that trust during
my lifetime. At my election, I may satisfy
this pledge, in whole or in part, by
designating Roland Park Country School
as the beneficiary of insurance on my
life.
It is important for the donor to consult
his or her personal advisor regarding
bequest provisions.
