Lower School Technology
RPCS is regarded as a leader in its integration of technology in the Lower School curriculum. Students in the RPCS Lower School are first introduced to the computer as a learning tool in kindergarten. Throughout their Lower School experience, students have access to the numerous networked computers in the classroom, library, and computer center. At the Lower School level, the classroom curriculum in all subjects is integrated with technology in new and innovative ways, developed by RPCS teachers in conjunction with the Lower School's computer skills specialist. We believe these uses of technology in the curriculum encourage the development of students' creative and analytical skills as it builds their confidence and increases their understanding of the larger world.

Below are some of the creative ways that technology is being used in the RPCS Lower School:

  • Lower School students were encouraged to get in touch with their favorite writers of children's books via the web and have even sent the authors story ideas for new books!

  • Students created timelines of their own histories and wrote their autobiographies on the computer to be shared with their classmates.

  • All students in the RPCS Lower School create a cumulative portfolio of their work on the computer, both on disk and in a printed version, that highlights their accomplishments as they progress through the academic program here.

If you have specific questions about the Lower School experience, please feel free to contact the Head of the Lower School.
