School Program
The Lower School academic program is designed
to develop strong skills and foster a genuine pleasure in learning.
In the Lower School, students, working both independently and cooperatively,
are introduced to the depth and breadth of a core curriculum that
is at the heart of a Roland Park Country School education.
Centering on strong academic
skills, the Lower School provides a nurturing environment
for the maximum development of the youngest students
at RPCS. The major academic subjects of language
arts, math, science and social studies are broadened
by studies in French, Spanish, computer and library
skills. The academic program is further enhanced
by strong curricula in the arts and physical education.
As they progress from kindergarten through fifth
grade, Lower School girls develop a variety of problem
solving and critical thinking skills, good study
habits and time management skills, respect and appreciation
of others as well as self-confidence in their own
abilities.
